WEDNESDAY IS HERE

Wednesday Book 1 is now available.

WEDNESDAY - BOOK 1

Wednesday is dissatisfied with her life under a scrap yard and curious about the outside world. Sure, it’s the post-apocalypse out there, but anything beats living under a pile of junk with your dad.

On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Wednesday’s father is kidnapped by bounty hunters. In order to save him, Wednesday must venture into the unknown with her only friends; sock monkeys Manny, Moe and Jack.

Armed only with her wits and driving a rocking 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, Wednesday must overcome bandits, killer robots and a deadly assassin from the past.

118 pages, full color, 8x10

ANGRY MONKEY

Another sketch of sock monkey Moe. He's a very angry monkey. Smokes, like, a pack a day.

AIN'T BORN TYPICAL

Here's a panel of the Cuda tooling though the-- what? Yes of course that's an oil tanker in the desert. This story takes place in the post-apocalypse and there are certain things you have to include in every depiction of the PA. Stranding a tanker is one of them. Thankfully, there are no angry apes, sunken washington monuments, or kaiju bones here. That doesn't sound half-bad now that I think about it...

-
If you see something typical, kill it.

BLUE

No Apple Care in the post-apocalypse. Too bad. Sadface. Smiling Pile of Poo.

-
How it feels to lose a laptop (very blue).

ALL YOU NEED

Everything you could ever want or need:

-
Every car from the '70s looks great on film. EVERY car. ANY film.
Yes, 1969 counts, too.

UNHAPPY

Here's Moe. One of three robotic sock monkeys who are Wednesday's only friends. Moe is not a happy monkey.

-
The unhappy ending is always better.

GIL

This is Gil. He gets beat up a lot. Drop-kicked. Punched. Bit in the ass. Shot. Loses a finger. Dehydration. And that's on a good day. Oh, and he catches on fire, too.

-
Gil's theme.

HIS NAME IS THUG

There's a handful of bad guys and bad girls in Wednesday. All of them are lethal intelligent killers... except for one who has the brain of a brick. Guess which one this guy is.

W.T.H.

What The Hair.

Here's another random panel from Wednesday. No, Wednesday is not having a bad hair day. That's fashion. (She gets it under control a few pages later).

As a comic book artist you have to be fashion-aware. Doesn't matter where your story is set or what it's about. You have to dress your characters and do their hair -- especially when it comes to the pajama-party of superhero comics. I mean, SOMEONE designed Lobo's hair and make-up.  He didn't get that Rob Zombie look all on his own... and SOMEONE gave this guy Robert Smith hair.

CUDA

If you've followed any of my blogs or postings over the years, you might have noticed I have a thing for the Hottest Car On Wheels Ever. 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda.

A 71 'Cuda is one of the main characters in the Wednesday comic. You'll see it go through some changes over the course of the book. Here's a panel, pre-flames. And by "flames" I mean paint... or DO I?

Inks by Alex Riegel, colors by John Bergin
